Tenerife has added another recognition to its reputation as one of Europe’s most attractive tourist destinations. The island received the “Paraiso cercano” award at the first edition of the ELLE Travel Awards 2026, which recognise destinations, accommodation and experiences for their excellence, authenticity and ability to offer travellers memorable experiences.
The ELLE Travel award particularly highlights the diversity of the destination. Tenerife combines volcanic landscapes, beaches, heritage, nature, culture and gastronomy within a relatively small area. Among its most iconic landmarks is, of course, Teide National Park, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The island also offers countless ways to enjoy nature: hiking, whale and dolphin watching, water sports, routes through small villages, rural landscapes and an extensive network of protected natural areas.
Gastronomy completes the experience with local produce, fresh fish, cheeses, Canary Islands potatoes, mojo sauces and wines produced in different parts of the island.
